The Polish Ethological Society was founded in 1991. Formerly, in the years 1987-1991, there existed the Ethological Section of the Polish Zoological Society.

The main aims of the Society are

promotion of ethology and of other behavioral sciences (including neurobiology, behavioural ecology and sociobiology) in Poland;

popularization of ethology and of other behavioural sciences, as behavioural ecology, sociobiology;

representation of views of Polish ethological environment towards local and international authorities;

cooperation with scientific institutions and authorities within the country, as well as with international milieu (in particular with the International Council of Ethologists).
