A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Core Facility was established within the Center of Neurobiology. The leader of the newly established MRI Core Facility is Dr. Stefan Gazdzinski.

He graduated in Medical Physics at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He also studied psychology at that time. His doctoral thesis on molecular dynamics of water utilized magnetic resonance methodology. Starting with his second postdoctoral position at Department of Radiology University of California San Francisco, USA, through his work at the Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases in San Francisco and Department of Physics at the Jagiellonian University, his scientific interests have focused on brain imaging in neurodegenerative diseases using MRI methodology.

The newly established MRI Core Facility offers MRI techniques, including functional MRI, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, cerebral blood flow, and diffusion tensor imaging. They can be used in a broad spectrum of research, ranging through cognitive psychology, imaging of neurodegenerative diseases, and pharmacological research.
